Which reed should I go with?

A bit of context might help.

I haven't played the clarinet in close to a year, but have decided to go at it again recently.
Back when I used to play, I played on a hardness 5 reed, but am worried that due to my rather long 'rest'
I won't be able to play on such hardness again..

Which reed do you guys think I should buy? Would I be able to play on a 5 or should I step down and work my way up again..

Your context fails to mention what mouthpiece you use. Personally, unless you're playing a tip opening of less than a millimeter, I'd say there's absolutely no reason to use a # 5.
Sorry bout that..

I'm using a Vandoren R5V with a Yahama 34 Clarinet

Merlin, with all the doubles you play on, do you try to stay around the same reed strength for them all. I moved all my doubles to a #3 reed and eliminated some of the problems I was having in voicing when I had quick changes.
