A couple weeks back, I mentioned a YouTube video about Janet Cardiff's "The Forty Part Motet." This is an art installation where there are 40 speakers arranged in an oval and each speaker plays one voice from Thomas Tallis' 40-voice motet, "Spem in Alium" ("[I have never put my] Hope in Another").

    Two things:

I would absolutely love to be able to do this with bunches of other music. Hey, 7.1 speaker systems are common and inexpensive. We'd just have to get someone to re-record the music so each part is on a separate channel.

If you were able to do this, what piece would you want to do this with?

So much Basie, it would be like being in the middle of the group.

Hey, I'd like to just sit in and sing with some of the top-level choirs out there. 7.1 channels are more than enough for a lot of vocal music.
