I come across weird woodwinds and then I post them.

The Pinschophone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinschophone) is a bass flute that has an extension to low G and a somewhat unique head joint. It's named after Thomas Pinschof (http://kunst.no/lerstad/pinschof.gif), the gentleman that designed it.

Another pic (http://www.contrabass.com/pages/flutes.gif). It's the one in the middle.

I *assume* that this is the same Thomas Pinschof that still makes flutes at Magic Flutes International. (http://www.magicflutes.net.au/b/12309/1/magic-flutes-international.html) There are some misc. articles by him on this website, as well. He's a rather prolific author. You can Google him.

Unfortunately ... there's not much more I can find on this flute. It's interesting looking!
