As Suzy starts lessons on the English Horn her new instructor recommended that she pick up some reeds here: http://www.stuart-dunkel.com/ocr/reeds.htm. Has anyone had any luck with this resource?
Cheers.

I haven't tried them myself, but Stuart Dunkel is a highly respected oboist and no doubt makes excellent reeds.
This is maybe a dumb question, but is Suzy's instructor an oboist? Most oboe teachers ought to be able to provide reeds themselves, either included in the cost of lessons or for a reasonable price. This is a far superior (and cheaper and more convenient) way to get reeds, even over buying them long distance from a very fine reedmaker.
The problem is that the reed really has to suit the player, the oboe (or English horn), the musical situation, etc. So a really great reed for Stuart Dunkel isn't necessarily a great reed for Suzy.

Indeed the instructor is primarily an oboist but also a fine English Horn player. As I understand it, these are just to get started on before Suzy starts to either make or procure reeds locally.

I use Stuart's EH reeds - I really like them.
