Here's a decent example of the quart bassoon or fagottino, pitched in F a fourth above the bassoon:

This instrument is made by Guntram Wolf (http://www.guntramwolf.de)

Enjoy,

My, that was just beautiful.
However, I had trouble with the scale. Either the player is a giant, or someone left the bassoon out in the rain, and it shrunk.

I just heard Piffaro a couple of months ago. They had some interesting double reed instruments.

Great stuff, thanks.

Very interesting !

I wonder.....does it read in treble or bass clef ?

If it's primarily a learning instrument for young bassoonist I guess it would be in bass clef so they wouldn't have to relearn the entire staff position and fingering association.

The intonation however......:-(

Probably bass clef, transposed. There is actually a (small) repertoire of baroque/classical music for the fagottino, not much played these days.
