I bought a Vito 7214 Bb today at my local swapmeet. I wandered by it last week, and snubbed my nose at it. But today, I stopped and pulled the mpc out and took a look. Turns out it's a Charles Bay in nice condition so I snapped it up.

After reading SteveSklars interesting clarinet mpc reviews, I'm anxious to do some comparing of my own pieces. I'm starting to get a decent clarinet mpc collection (Nothing like SteveSklars) . I now have a Slant sig Otto link, the Bay, Vandoren B45, the usual C80 Selmers, and various others laying around. I think I'll pull out my Conn 424 tomorrow and give them all a whirl. It's been too long since I sat down with my clarinet and spent some quality time. I only hope my lack of time on it won't get in the way of my enjoyment. I do tend to tire easily when I've been away too long.

Has anyone played a Charles Bay on a Soprano ? I've read several posts talking about their Bays on Bass Clarinets, but I've seen nothing on the sop's.

The Vito is a Kenosha piece, and it appears to be a decent enough student horn. This one seems to be in fairly nice shape, but I'm not expecting much from it. We'll see how it stacks up against the Conn tomorrow. I really should get off of my duff and repad my Bettoney Cundy metal clarinet . It sure would round out my mpc comparisons to have an old metal horn to play with as well. I've been wondering how it would sound with that Otto Link on it.

Stay tuned .

I have a Charles Bay on clarinet and rather like it. Very well done. I have one of the MO+ pieces which I believe stands for Medium Open. Kind of a bright piece to my ears and I thought it worked well for what I wanted tonally.

I think mine is a O -L. I added a pic. Maybe someone can confirm or correct me. The L is slighlty slanted, makes me think of the number 4.
I'm just not familiar with Bay mpcs.

Plays real nice. Full, clear, and when pushed gives a nice edge without losing control. Still fiddling with the right reed combo for it. So far a Vandoren #3 works best.
