View Full Version : SERENDIPITY - PM Spammer
This one got through our screening process -- primarily because it didn't have its e-mail address listed in the anti-spam lists I use. Sorry 'bout that.
Anyhow, if you've gotten a PM or e-mail from this former member, please delete it.

Reported the spam I got in my PM, but he still doesn't show up with the Banned status.
I triple checked: it's banned.

Thanks.
I was checkng his profile: http://www.woodwindforum.com/forums/member.php?u=955
I thought it would show "Banned" somewhere. (as on other forums using the same software)
Best regards,
François

We have played around with giving banned users that title but so far we have refrained.
I sorta mentioned this in another thread: while I have no problem saying that a 'bot is a spammer and that it's banned from the forum, as was the case here, there's no real problem. If you start saying that so-and-so is banned for whatever reason, you could open yourself up to litigation, like a libel suit. While we may be more bold in the future, I don't see a need to broadcast who we banned and why -- except if the entire community (or a significant portion thereof) is affected.
SOTW is different because the owner (Harri) is in Finland. Different place, different laws, different lawyers.
