H. Couf Superba I alto.

This superb example of a Superba (pun intended) is Steve's personal horn.  Serial number 82xxx   Click on each picture for a full scale size. The horn is about 99% original lacquer.

The Bell has unique box and leave engraving.  Very inticing as a teenager when my Selmer mk VII alto was bare.

The B/Bb key guard has H COUF stamped on it.  Each keyguard is only help on with 2 supports not 3 like on all other makes.  The supports are still very sturdy and over engineered IMHO.  2nd pic shows the 2 point plastic thumbrest which was very comfortable.  3rd pic shows the elegant bell brace (all soldred on as the bell was not removeable).  3rd pic shows the H COUF on the neck.  Neck tigthening screw was left handed.

Couple other pics.  Sorry if some are kind of dark.
2nd pic shows the high F# rod protector/support.  A very nice touch which is normally reserved for tenors.
3rd pic shows the bell flare.  Although the horns bore looks small it is larger than my Selmer mk VII alto.
4th pic shows the octave lever which is old style (not half crescent selmer style).  Not until the Conn DJH horns was that modified to the selmer style lever.
