Who here has received a Covid Vac? What was your experience?

I got mine in March because I'm 65 +

MA had a registry which I signed on to. My health care provider, Mass General, set up a site about 1/2 from my house near Boston, and they notified me and I got my J&J jab there.

When I was done, they escorted us "old folks" out to the parking lot (I'm 65 + 1 year). Very well run with escorts on where to park and where to go.

It was well run, they had guides everywhere. At one time the facility (in Somerville) was long ago a Ford plant, the in the 80's, it became the Assembly Square Mall, the mall has gone (I think) now it's a mini city off of 93 (a main highway into the city).

Later, Mrs. BSG (not 65+) was able to receive hers at a Double Tree off of 95, North of Boston, at a facility run by the state.

Also, Very well run with escorts on where to park and where to go.
It was a Pfizer. She returned there for a 2nd dose.

I think it would be interesting to hear of other experiences in the US & especially outside the US.

We're in Melbourne, Australia. Being of the geriatric persuasion (82 and 77) we were vaccinated quite early in the program using the Astra-Zeneka vaccine. The program in Australia is running a bit slow compared with most first-world countries due mainly to political intransigence and incompetence, but we won't go there. It is well-run and we had zero waiting time. We had no effects following the shots except that I noticed that I was a touch lethargic following the second shot. It only lasted for 1 day. no othere effects.

I was Pfizer double vaccinated by January 9th. In UK the organisational level of the NHS is brilliant. I may be biased, though, I work within the NHS and often run vaccination sessions...

Expect a sore arm. The key question is not 'which is your dominant arm' but 'what side do you sleep on' - and get the vaccination in the other side. Those and other side effects last little longer than a day or so. I look forward to my third (booster) next month, though I do think those countries ahead of the game should be helping other countries to vaccinate their population. A pandemic is a worldwide infection, needing a worldwide response.

Suzy, all my big band folks but one, and I have had our shots. The Classic Hits and (think ToP, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc) only lost a vocalist. My sax quartet mates all have shots. 73% of the folk in the county I live in (PNW) have their shots.

The shot was give with the smallest needle I've ever experienced. There were no real effects for Suzy or me after the first 24 hours.

(Moderna) My arm hurt after each shot and I was sick for a day after the second, which is somewhat common. When the vaccine was available for my age group (503; broccoli grows for a long time), I kept checking the state health page to see what was available and it was "sold out" for a couple weeks. I eventually was able to get a shot at a Walgreens (think of that as a pharmacy with a small grocery store attached). There was no one waiting when I got the first shot and only one waiting when I got the second.

I have to give myself monthly shots in the stomach, which are very un-fun, and I've had lots of different needles poked into me for various medical reasons. I've also been a blood donor. The vaccine shot rates as about a 1 on the 1 to 10 pain scale in my doctor's office. Additionally, the benefits strongly outweigh the inconvenience or mild pain.

There was a bit of paperwork I had to fill out and I did that before getting the shot. IIRC, it was downloadable from Walgreen's website or the state's website (AZ). After getting the shot, I got a little card saying where/when/what kind of shot. John Oliver is exactly right on this: the card is too big for a wallet, so I have to fold it. It's also just a bit thicker paper, which ensures it'll disintegrate easily.

I had a doctor appointment last week. Either they asked or I volunteered the info that I had my shots, so they put that into their extremely large folder that has all my medical data.

I got Moderna shots. The first one gave me just a bit of discomfort in the upper arm if I raised it above the horizontal. The second one gave me flu symptoms the next day. The discomfort was definitely worth it to greatly reduce the odds of getting sick and possibly dying.

Yes. I got Moderna twice but I only just got my one shot last week. We moved provinces and the day to get vaccinated for my age group was after moving date so I had to wait.

The first vaccine hurt my arm quite a bit but I was generally ok.

The second vaccine hurt my arm but the worst symptom was my mental health. I was very hyper & agitated. Fear overwhelmed me and I became a bit unstable for a couple of days. It really WAS scary.

As a career entertainer, I am very glad I'm vaccinated, We've been playing only outdoor parties, but I still feel more comfortable that I would if I hadn't gotten the jabs.

Moderna. Vacced in March. No problems. Please, if you're not vaccinated, get vaccinated. My friend and his wife were not and the doctors gave him all kinds of drugs to keep him alive, but he didn't want the vax because he didn't "know what's in it." Did he know what was in all those drugs they used to keep him alive? I doubt it. And sadly, all those drugs did not keep his wife alive. It just doesn't make sense.

Seems musicians are intelligent people. Like most here I've had two shots, both Moderna. I live in Nova Scotia, eastern seaboard of Canada. We're one of the safest places in the world, due to natural isolation, a government that listened to health care experts and a population that mostly followed the rules. We should be entirely mask-free in a few weeks as we reach 75% of the population with two vaccinations. Vaccinations were offered in hospitals at first but now you can get them at Walmart. I'm in my 70s but have had no ill effects.

I also know a couple who didn’t want to get vaccinated due to not knowing how the vaccinations would affect them. They both now have Covid. Crazy.

I love the Canadian Maritime Provinces. I've been to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador on 3 different vacations. Unfortunately, I missed PEI due to the fact I was having so much fun that time ran out. The people I met in the Maritimes are some of the friendliest folks on the planet, and I've been to 6 out of the 7 continents.

If it wasn't so cold in the winter, I could move there ;)

I hope our country has enough sense to get it together (though I have my doubts) and we can enjoy an open border again. In the winter we play a couple of times a month at an RV resort that has 900 lots. For about 6 months, 600 of those lots are filled with French Canadians, and those folks like to party. I've been to Quebec too and loved it there as well.

Have several medical conditions. Vax was easy, no problems. Planning on booster.

I had a day of discomfort after the second shot. I wasn't running a fever, but my skin felt irritated as if I was running a fever. I just took a long afternoon nap.

A day of discomfort is worth the amount of protection it affords.
