Adrian Rollini- Man from the South

My father (born in 1915) had several records of Red Nichols and his Five Pennies, with Rollini on bass sax. Brings back memories ...

Oh YEAH! That was terrific. I agree about Paul Woltz getting that kind of lilt in his bass sax playing.

As to Red Nichols . . . his bass sax man for years was Joe Rushton, who was an excellent player. I once stood next to him at the urinal at Marineland in L.A.'s south bay where The Five Pennies held forth.

What a claim to fame, eh? DAVE

Outstanding link Jim. Rollini has always been an idol of mine, and one of the main reasons I was drawn to the saxophone in the first place.
