First, I just think it's a really nice looking horn. It's got the little roller for the Bb "bis" key, a honkin' huge right hand thumb rest, and a keyguard for the chromatic F# that reads "BH." Rolled tone holes, too. Understated engraving.

Up until I looked into B&H for the past half hour or so, I was under the impression that B&H stopped producing saxophones at about the time Boosey merged with Hawkes. That seems incorrect -- provided that "Made in England" really means made in England. In any event, the serial number is a B&H one and traces the horn to about 1948. That's a little earlier than I'd expect for the Kohlert stencils that B&H favored later.
