I've had this instrument for several years and it has been very well taken care off.
This is the plastic Leblanc Model 7182 Contrabass Clarinet.

It lists for MSRP $5,710.00
and can be had new for $4,519.00
I've had it fine tuned by the clarinet tech from the SF Symphony and it plays better then new.

I still have the shipping box but I'd really rather not ship it. It would probably be knocked out of alignment.(at least)

I'll consider trades of most anything. I need a new furnace for example.
I'd trade it for a really nice alto or double bass.

Hmm. Description sez "one piece body". No wonder you aren't keen of shipping it, as it'd indeed need a ship for that monstah. :)
 
I played one of these for a while, lots of fun if you can keep your eyes in focus. But I'd rather carry my upright bass around than one of these. Darned awkward beasts these things.

If you were closer I might consider an offer, but it's too far for me.

I just realized I have a box of unused reeds for one of these somewhere in my closet. They cost me more than a cheap used Vito soprano!

Hi Folks
I haven't been around much lately because I've been 100% steeped in the double bass. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

Hey Carl--do you play tuba too?

These bass instruments take up a lot of room and I'm ready to put this contra on a fast track for sale, however if anybody's going to be in the Bay Area I can hold on to it a bit longer.
It really plays great so I want to make some videos of it to show it off for eBay.
That 'll probably take a month or so to get finished so since this post is years old "fast track" means months.:)
 
No tuba at the moment - it is waiting to be being rebuilt. It needs a new leadpipe. But maybe someday.
