A few years ago, I found this interesting-looking, obviously 19th century horn. There's a raised badge on the horn. I didn't think much of the horn at the time because I really couldn't quite read the inscription. Today I added a plugin to my Piwigo picture gallery and I was categorizing all the makes by country. I couldn't remember if the badge had a country name on it, so I decided to check a little further. I did some Googling. It's a Brazillian horn. (Actually, it was probably made in France and exported through Brazil; Universel made horns that look fairly similar.) The other thing is that I think the company might be named for or otherwise associated with someone moderately famous.

Just mildly interesting.

Sure doesn't look Brazilian. I'd +1 your French theory.

I think the only Brazilian manufacturers I've heard of are Lopes and J'Élle Stainer. And I'm not sure if Lopes actually makes horns or just modifies 'em.
