More Yani Model Talk ...

I read a couple eBay ads and also went to my favorite Japanese-language website to look for more Yani models. First, I'm well aware that SoundFuga (SF) screws up their instrument descriptions more than just occasionally and second, eBay is always buyer beware, but both have come up with a "new" Yani model:

The "T-400":

The first one from SF is a T-4. The second is a T-3. The eBay horn is also a T-4. One of the pics shows the serial number and the "4" clearly stamped next to it.

There may actually be a 400 model out there. I'm not discounting that. I just haven't seen one and I haven't seen one listed anywhere in any Yani history.

Early Yanagisawas occasionally have a three or four digit number stamped near the serial number. This number doesn't seem to correspond to anything and isn't the model. Sometimes a model number is stamped on the bell. Some horns sold through Leblanc were sold with Leblanc part numbers -- I'll try to find where I've stashed that list.

The point: if you're looking to buy a Yani and you have questions as to what model you're looking at, look at the features more than the numbers stamped on the horn.
