I find it interesting when you can hear a player do a tune twenty plus years apart. Here are two videos of Gerry Mulligan doing "Walking Shoes".

The first recording is from 1956 with the Mulligan Sextet with nice solos by Mulligan and Zoot Sims. And interesting interplay from Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone.

The second recording is from 21 years later in 1977. Here we see a player who is at the top of his game in a traditional quartet (piano, drums, bass, and baritone). His solos are more aggressive than 1956 and he's pretty much carrying the whole tune. The other thing that is interesting about this recording is the drum "solo". Mulligan generally liked his drummers to play quietly and you don't see a lot featuring of them.
