Anybody care to make a guess on the identity of this Beast?

A friend purchased this at a swap meet in Florida and I don't think it is an Edgewear, just the bell is B&H, the banding on the bell and lower joint do not match. The banding on the barrel and lower joint do match. The size of the upper joint tenon is smaller than that of a modern Buffet, FWIW.

Anybody have a link to some pictures of old B&H logos so I can compare outlines and sizes?

Is it Edgewear or Edgeware?

Edgeware is an area in London, where Boosey and Hawkes had a factory.

also not clear if its edgew... or edgw...

There's a very good serial number list for B&H here: http://www.horniman.ac.uk/media/_file/bandh_handlists_web.pdf

But.... I can't see anything that would match 1870C as a serial number. Which supports your Bell from B&H, rest unknown theory. Unless 1870C is a model number...

Might be worth watching this thread:
