On the Broadway channel on XM Radio, I heard a different (very different) version of "America" from West Side Story. The beginning was butchered up, omitting the "PR fan's" introductions to the back and forth. Then, the choruses were rearranged with "modern" references rather than those from the original (and all of the versions that I've every played before), and with the Puerto Rican men alternating with the women (instead of all women, as in the original versions).
The music was well performed, but the effect was (to say the least) jarring. Does anyone else know anything about what was done to the rest of the show?
