One of the problems with YouTube is that it's sometimes very hard to find good recordings, particularly if you're not trying to find current pop music. The NPR (National Public Radio) channel has a bunch of high-quality recordings of full concerts and in-studio sessions ("Music Tiny Desk") from a lot of folks that are considered "alternative music."

Looks like they have 250 or so recordings.

To go along with this, NPR Music has a few interesting places you can visit:

* Main page. Searchable by musician. I caught a couple concerts by Andrew Bird that I hadn't heard before.
* First Listen. These are full (generally) pre-release albums that you're encouraged to comment on. The full album stays online for a couple weeks, so if you've got an artist you know is going to be releasing a record soon, you should definitely check this out.

NPR is in the process of updating their music pages. If you check out their website, you might get a survey asking about what new features you'd like. Extremely nice.
