Penzel Mueller NY crystal mouthpiece

Hi. I posted a question about a clarinet i had that turned out to be a Low Pitch 1926 Pre R13 Buffet in A. (Thanks to User TrueTone who helped out)

He mentioned the clear mouthpiece i had looked interesting and i realized that the inscription on it was actually the brand, not the former owners name which i mistakenly thought for some reason.

Anyway, it's a Penzel Mueller NY mouthpiece. It has 3+ etched into it as well.

Any information? What does the 3+ mean? its history? Manufacture Date? Potential Value?

i havent seen any info on the web about Penzel Mueller crystal mouthpieces.

Thanks in advance.

It might be a 3*. This designates the tip opening which is the gap between the tip of the mouthpiece and the reed when at rest. It is a non-standard number between brands of mouthpieces. But a Penzel Mueller 3* should blow with more resistance than a 2*, or 3 from the same maker. The Star usually denotes 1/2 sizes.

The fluting looks cool. I do wonder if some ligatures would have a problem with that.
