Playing Tremolo

I have a piece for violin and it has a few notes with tremolo. How would I play that on a flute? Would it be vibrato?

That's a good question. Tremolo on a violin doesn't really sound like vibrato and it doesn't really sound like a trill, but I think a trill might be the closest.

Tremolo is a very fast repeated articulation, a flutter tongue is probably the closest thing available to you. Whether you can do it in context or not is a different matter.

(Violin was my day and night gig for many years.)

Good point! Flutter-tongue is all but impossible for me, so I didn't even think of it.

Thanks guys. I've made a note. I'm not advanced enough for Flutter-tonguing. I'm still learning me notes!
