Reed profiler

I'm seriously considering purchasing a reed profiler. I would appreciate your comments, either yea or nay on whether I should make the plunge. I have unopened boxes of reeds (clarinet, bass clarinet, alto, tenor, bari) collected through the years that are not the same as what I am now playing. I'm thinking a profiler would give them a new start. Is the time and money worth the results????

Haven't used the reed profiler but the concept is interesting. The only variable is that cane is somewhat variable and a given cut does not always equal the same result. Most of the reed companies are now using very precise equipment which still results in a variety of reed strengths because of the variance of the relative stiffness of the cane.
