I was hoping someone around here might be able to give me some leads on a repair shop or music store with a repair shop that knows something about vintage saxes in or around the Garden City, NY area.
I received an email from the widow of a pro saxophone player. She wants to sell her late husband's horn, but doesn't know what it is worth. I suggested that she take it to a reputable shop for an estimate. The horn is a Pan American tenor, with the patent date of Sept 14, 1945. Serial is 229XXX.
Since she's not a player, and really can't tell us the condition of the sax, I thought it was best to get someone to look it over in person rather than taking a stab at it via email. (And no, she didn't send me any pictures.)
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!
