What is it and how old?

Hi

I am an old flea-market enthusiast and I bought a clarinet last sunday för 100
SKR. When I was young, I studied clarinetplaying in Goteborg for "Sten-Pelle".

The clarinet is 58 cm long 8 keys and have some cracks. Bottomring is missing.

Someone have glued the barrel before, both sides, can I take away the glue?
...and glue it better...

Any ideas? Please...

Hi again.

Now after some time I found another " thread" about repairing
clarinets, so I move to that one about glueing and removing glue...

Hi Gandalfe

No, nothing, but can one say when they stopped manufacture
8 keys clarinets? I have a Couesnon S. A from perhaps 1935 and
the keys look very much the same...

When the clarinet is 51,6 cm long, without mouthpiece, is it a C-
clarinet?

Regarding clarinet length --> http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=43387&t=43321

Note that you also have to worry about different intonation standards e.g. A=440hz vs. A=457hz or whatever, depending on how old the horn is. Also, some designs can be a bit longer or a bit shorter, as long as the bore and keywork compensate for that.

I tried Googling some 8-key clarinets. I didn't find one that looks like yours (hey, I don't Google that long), but the Met has this absolutely gorgeous ca. 1845 horn. Looks like it rolled off the production line yesterday.

Hi Pete

Thank you for yor answer. Then my clarinet can be a C-clarinet?

The bore is apr. 13,5 mm and the mouthpiece is about the size
of an Ess clarinets. I had to by one from China when I put, a more
"fantacy" clarinet, together from 3 parts(5 keys), I found in a flea-
market and that bore is just 11,8 mm, but the clarinet is as long.
I read the book from Arthur H. Benada and got advices
from Brad Behn.
(I am not good on wooden crafts)
