Reed-o-meter

Sitting here during a nor'easter (gonna practice before I go out and shovel snow), I started wondering if anyone that posts here uses a Reed-o-meter.
I purchased mine in the late 70's from Ponte Music in NYC. Ponte Music only sold woodwind supplies and ww instruments....mostly "reed instruments" if memory serves me correctly.
My reedometer measures the actual strength of single reeds on a scale of 0 through 15. On my clarinet I use between an 8.5 and 9.
It's a handy gadget.

I've never heard of this before.

I just pull them out of the box, play them until they get too soft, or if they don't break in right, and move on. I do notice inconsistencies from one to the next in the same box.
