licorice stick, yes i remember that name fondly ..... unfortunately ....I'm curious about the flavor?
Back in my childhood, before most of you were born, the hipper folks I knew called a clarinet a 'licorice stick' (and they still may, although I, apparently, no longer know any hipsters.) Do you suppose the cake could possess some sort of hidden historical sub-text?
