The Two Ton Bass Rest

Well, my bass is considered a walking, pardon, marching bass, and as such it didn't come with a peg or even a peg holder.

Now before shelling like 200$ for a peg assembly, I browsed the local HW store for an idea, when I stumbled through the automotive aisle...and here it is, the Two Ton Bass Rest, made of a car jack stand. Luck had it that two of them were lying in my basement.

I heavily padded them with felt (so that the bell can't slip away), and got it a test drive. Yep, holds and stands.

Thought I'd share.

(for the upcoming church concert, I'll paint it black)

:)

I do like the idea that you came up with, tho, and I was blissfully unaware that to add a peg assembly was $200.

You know, after-market options usually cost a quarter to half of what your instrument initially cost.
(The $200 are local prices - $120 for the assembly, the rest for silver-soldering and shaking hands with the customer)
