Cheap A Clarinet?

Have been in orchestra for a while, have music written for A clarinet, but have none.

Have a budget of under a $1000, looking for inexpensive A clarinet that can be found on the web, and ordered. I do not care how good the tone quality is, as long as it is not horrible. Please help!

Thanks:).

Tom Ridenour sold A versions of his 147 student clarinet some years ago. You may find one on the auction site.

Hi, TehSylveon

With a budget of under a $1000 have a look at Amati ACL 371 & ACL 371[h=1][/h][h=1][/h]

Erm. ACL 371IIS and ACL 372IIS. The older models might be advertised at a lower price, like here, where they're 864 Euros ($937 US). However, you might find that they're well above $1K: WWBW sells it for $1500. (I've no experience with Amati clarinets, so I've no comment on their quality.)

Two different eBay searches for Buy-it-Now A clarinets:

I'm obviously not going to say that the Chinese-made A clarinets are worth checking, but that 1940s (or earlier) Conn that Quinn is selling looks pretty nice, especially at $455. Not that I'm mentioning it because he advertised here or anything. Pure coincidence :p. Anyhow, for limited use, that's a good price. If I was using an A clarinet all the time and wanted to stay close to that $1000 amount, Quinn's NEW Selmer Odyssee is probably the horn to go for. Yes, the BIN price is $1430, but he says to call for "special offers." From Facebook, it's (425) 747-2349.

Oh. Remember to make sure that if you're buying a German- or Czech-made clarinet that it's not Oehler system!

Quinn's Conn is 1928 or so.
Haven't gotten to play a Conn A before, so I can't comment on it, though it looks to be in good shape.
