Formed a 10-piece Jazz Ensemble in Maryland

I recently formed a 10-piece jazz ensemble in Montgomery County, MD.

The group's instrumentation is:

trumpet
alto sax (soprano sax, clarinet, flute doubles)
tenor sax (soprano sax, clarinet doubles)
baritone sax (clarinet double)
bass clarinet
tuba
electric 5-string viola
guitar
bass
drums

The players are a mix of professional and community band musicians. One of our goals is for the group to be a community resource for local musicians & composer-arrangers in being able to have an ensemble in the area that performs an extremely wide range of styles and, especially, contemporary jazz (which tends to be lacking in our area).

Since no off-the-shelf charts are available for this instrumentation, I'm doing a lot of writing for the group as well as asking composer buddies to write for us. I've applied for a grant to enable us to commission a "name" jazz composer to write an original piece for us.

Several of my scores for the band have been posted to the online library at the American Music Center.
