Marching Band

Dear All,

For me, marching band is coming soon, and I have to get up and play really early in the morning. However, I find that when I play really early, my mouth feels kinds stiff, and my embouchure feels forced. Does anyone have any exercises to loosen up the mouth, or any other tips to solve this problem? Thanks.

Sincerely,
bobbyjoe0

Long tones and scales would work. Oftentimes playing in cooler temperatures outdoors can mess with your embouchure---especially when trying to play up to pitch with a cold instrument that can't be tuned up very far without a short barrel.

What jbt sez. Warming up is always important to me before a performance. I like to add some overtones too, but I'm not sure most high schoolers practice those.
