Pete's New Projects

I've decided to convert my Wiki to a blog format, primarily because my host is switching servers anyway and this gives me an opportunity to change some stuff around.

My temporary blog is at http://thesaxinfo.wordpress.com/
My new Gallery 3 install is at http://www.thesax.info/gallery3/index.php

Please note that my Gallery 3 stuff is MUCH faster on the new server. I clocked it at about 600% faster, as a matter of fact. Unfortunately, my host needs to get some parts for the server ....

Anyhow, comments welcome!

It's pretty fast. So you can't use my Couf pictures anymore on this site. Just curious.
I assume you're asking me a question .... :p

My Gallery 3 install should have all the pictures from my old Coppermine Gallery (http://www.thesax.info/coppermine/index.php) and I didn't have a Keilwerth category. If you're referring to the pics that were included in the (I think) 2006 calendar, I almost never put them in my photo galleries. It's a copyright thing. If you're referring to my Keilwerth pics from saxpics.com, they're not going to show up on in my Gallery; no need to duplicate content. If you're referring to posting H Couf pictures on the Woodwind Forum, go ahead. I won't ban you :p.

Are the numbers going to stay in front of the address? Or is this just temporary while things are still getting finalized?

I figured that. I just thought I'd check.

It looks really good Pete. I really like the gallery. I'm still thinking I'd like to do something like that with my pics. I also saw a really nice gallery from Germany. (I happened to find it while looking for Hohner President info on German Google.) Then I realized it was Coppermine. I think what attracted me was the black background.

Does Coppermine run faster than the new Gallery you use?

I wrote a blog entry on that website about a week ago :).

The question of Coppermine vs. Gallery 3 is a little complex. Gallery 3 can be faster, because you can use a better graphics processing program. But if you compare Coppermine to Gallery 3 using the SAME processor, the results might be identical.

The #1 reason I started to use Gallery 3 is because the level of support at Coppermine went waaaaay down. However, I was very surprised at how intuitive the Gallery 3 interface is and how easy the product is to use. Gallery 2 was a bit user-hostile. Coppermine's newest release is still very similar to their old version, which is relatively difficult to use.
