To stabilize teh wood enough so that it can be properly worked, they store the wood for 3 years in a room with controlled temperature and humidity.
Ebony and rosewood are selected for their qualities and acoustic return. The Ebony is from mozanbique androsewood from Suth America. The trees roughly take 70 years to become mature enough for proper use. Before the wood arrives at the factory the raw wood is dried over a 5 year cycle
Grenadilla from Madagascar is also used. The roughen bodies (a point furthe rthan Schreiber who seem to put the blocks of wood) into pressurized tanks for 12 hours in an autoclave with linseed oil. Then, of course, they are dried out in a drying oven for several days.
